Howth is a pretty suburb of Dublin, Ireland. Situated on the Howth Head peninsula, 15km from Dublin city center, it’s a charming village with a town center, residential areas, a marina and a magnificent coastline. It has to be said that the Howth Peninsula boasts an exceptional wilderness environment! It’s hard to believe that Dublin isn’t far away!
Easily accessible by DART and Dublin Bus, the area is well worth a visit!
Howth has the advantage of being a small fishing village that attracts many travellers every year to discover the wild beauty of its peninsula!
As the village is rather touristy, you’ll have no trouble finding restaurants (often specializing in fish and seafood), traditional and festive Irish pubs, or hotels and bed & breakfasts where you can spend a few nights. The people are friendly, and the streets of Howth are fun to wander, if only to sample the charm of Irish harbor villages.
Don’t miss a stroll around the harbour (it’s not uncommon to see seals!), try Claremont Beach, or try one of the fish restaurants (freshness guaranteed!)….
And don’t forget to explore the Howth Peninsula on foot: there’s a pathway leading up to its magnificent cliffs! It’s a complete change of scenery, and you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the Baily lighthouse!
