Thoor Ballylee is an Irish keep in County Galway. Formerly the home of the great writer William Butler Yeats, the site was a veritable source of inspiration for the poet. Transformed into a museum, the tower now houses an exhibition entirely dedicated to the poet…
Did you know? It is thanks to Thoor Ballylee that we owe William Butler Yeats one of his major works, entitled “The Tower”.
The tower features a fine exhibition of the writer’s memorabilia and objects. A film is even shown, giving you the chance to discover the poet’s biography, as well as the history of this Anglo-Norman-style tower!
A lovely museum, where you can discover or rediscover the greatness of this tortured and passionate writer, who preferred solitude to the company of his loved ones…
