Did you know that the Titanic was built in Ireland? The infamous liner that sank at a depth of over 4,000 meters was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast for the White Star Line. This is why the city of Belfast has decided to create a veritable “Titanic Quarter”. It was here, on the docks, that the boat was built and launched for the first time…

To pay homage to history, the city has decided to increase the number of visits and attractions… Magnificent museum, visit of the dry dock, discovery of the SS Nomadic, guided tour… There’s something for everyone!

Not to mention the town of Cobh, where the Titanic stopped before setting sail for New York. The Irish village also boasts a museum and various attractions that pay tribute to the giant of the seas!

Did you know? The Titanic and Belfast have a history forever intertwined. For the Northern Irish town was the birthplace of the most colossal project of the 1900s: the construction of a gigantic ocean liner… and all in excess… The Titanic.

It was an impressive project for its time, requiring the employment of over 14,000 Irish people for its construction!

Since then, the Titanic legend has gone on and on, arousing as much interest and passion as ever. The many films dedicated to the sinking (including James Cameron’s film with Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet) have continued to fuel the madness surrounding the liner…

And to mark the occasion, Belfast built a museum on the scale of the tragedy: the Titanic Belfast Experience, an establishment that bears a striking resemblance to the hull of the Titanic ship. Inside, no less than 9 sections await you. You can even stroll through life-size reconstructions, such as the Titanic’s Grand Staircase, first- and third-class bedrooms…

The museum is grandiose, and one of the best attractions in Northern Ireland!

But this is not the only attraction on the island dedicated to the Titanic. Belfast also offers other activities, but the town of Cobh in the Republic of Ireland also has its own museum and memorial.

If you’re ever in the mood for a themed getaway, here’s what you need to know and visit. You’ll know everything there is to know about the Titanic!
