How about living like a king in County Clare? Mountcashel Castle is a 15th-century Irish castle in south-west Ireland, currently on sale for the modest sum of €90,000.

A rather modest sum compared to the historical value of such a castle!

Located just five minutes from the small town of Sixmilebridge, the castle takes the form of a partially ruined 100m² tower. It was erected around 1466 by Conor na Srona O Brien, King of Thomond, on a plot of over half a hectare. The château was partially renovated in 1960, but is now back in ruins…

As you can see, the future owner of this Irish castle will need to do some work! A huge project that is already attracting a lot of interest! Some already see the opportunity to have their own castle, to convert it into luxurious accommodation for tourists, or even to make private use of it (to turn it into a playground, for example!).

But be careful: the future buyer won’t be able to do just anything with this piece of history. In fact, the château is officially a protected building: hence the need to restore it according to the rules of the art, and with respect for its origins.

A very inspiring project nonetheless! Interested?
