6 Nations Tournament 2025: a weakened Ireland leaves France dreaming of a place in the finals
6 Nations Tournament

But what happened on Sunday? Ireland showed real signs of weakness against Wales, a team that usually loses to the Shamrock. Although Ireland eventually prevailed 27-18, the Greens’ obvious fatigue left France dreaming of a final against Scotland…

Ireland weakens… While France strengthens

Is the Shamrock XV showing early signs of weakness in the Tournament?

Ireland are often regarded as a tireless team in the Six Nations Tournament. Generally indomitable, they used to make mincemeat of Wales and Scotland, establishing themselves as strong contenders for the title of tournament winner…

Unfortunately, yesterday’s match against Wales reshuffled the deck…

For it was a surprising XV du Trèfle that took to the field on Sunday. An inaccurate, tired team, which showed weakness in the face of the Welsh’s courageous assaults.

Nevertheless, Ireland bounced back to beat Wales… without putting an end to the questions…

What happened to the greens? Why so many inaccuracies and unforced errors?

An attitude which has shaken Irish confidence, and which is galvanizing France, who are due to meet the Shamrock team in Dublin in 2 weeks’ time.

France’s recent crushing victory over Italy (73-24) has rekindled their hopes in the Six Nations Tournament. In contrast to Ireland’s 27-18 win over Wales and England’s 16-15 victory over Scotland, this bonus-point victory has put Les Bleus back in the running for the title.

France are now three points behind unbeaten leaders Ireland, and one ahead of England. A triumph in Dublin on March 8 could see Fabien Galthié’s men move to the top of the table, thanks to a favorable points difference (+91 to Ireland’s +28).

Captain Antoine Dupont underlines the importance of this decisive encounter, perceived as“the biggest mountain of the Tournament“.

Les Bleus are therefore preparing for a major challenge on Irish soil, with the ambition of controlling their destiny until the final match against Scotland on March 15. It’s now a question of studying the Irish shortcomings against the Welsh in order to try and break through their defense.

We look forward to seeing you on March 8 to see if Ireland have made a simple mistake… Go Green!
