A dolphin was reportedly spotted this week swimming in the River Liffey, right in the heart of Dublin! The latter was reportedly spotted on the Customs House Quay side by astonished Dubliners, who noted with amusement his fin on the surface.
In good health, the mammal accidentally got lost. According to the researchers, the stormy weather may have “scrambled” the dolphin’s sonar, preventing it from finding its way around optimally.
Strong winds and heavy rain would have caused the silt to rise, blurring the animal’s tracking system.
According to specialists, the phenomenon occurs periodically.
The dolphin should be able to find its way back to the open sea on its own. In the meantime, the City of Dublin has asked the public to respect the mammal’s presence, and avoid soliciting or disturbing it. In the meantime, if you’re in Dublin, don’t hesitate to walk along the banks of the Liffey: you might just be lucky enough to come across him!
