singer Andrea Corr has published an autobiographical book entitled “Barefoot Pilgrimage” on October 17, 2019. It’s an opportunity for the singer to look back on her life, from childhood to the early successes of her band “The Corrs”, right up to the present day.

At the age of 45, the Irish artist takes the opportunity to share her personal reflections, even going so far as to share intimate confidences (notably about her miscarriages, and the difficulty of being a mother).

She also reveals her joys and sorrows… And she paints a nuanced portrait of herself, between pervasive melancholy and joie de vivre.
She speaks above all of love and death… The sudden loss of her mother in 1999… And the 2015 death of her father Gerry Corr.

It had the most profound effect on my life. There has been a deep, silent suffering that has settled over me ever since…”, she wrote at the time.

With a certain melancholy romanticism, the book deals with the various trials she has had to face in her life: the loss of her parents, her repeated miscarriages…

But the book is also more positive: she recounts the life of her band, her relationship with her brother and sisters, her family, her husband… not to mention her success and its side-effects.

I felt a compelling need to write because, if I died, this love story that is as strange as it is normal, familial and human, could really die too.

Barefoot Pilgrimage is a condensed account of Andrea Corr’s life. A compendium of profound thoughts and lighter tales. An opportunity for fans of the early days to get to know the Irish singer and her world better. A world of nuances and delicacies.
