Did you know that Dracula’s creator was Irish? Known as Bram Stoker (1847-1912), this writer celebrates his 165th birthday today. As a reminder, Bram Stoker took over 10 years to write his book “Dracula”, in which he recounts the life of a vampire living in Transylvania. Success would not come until a few years after his death, as the book had gone completely unnoticed during his lifetime.

To mark the author’s 165th birthday, a number of new editions of Dracula have been published. On the film front, many public television channels will be rebroadcasting the genre’s greatest classics… Even better: for cinema fans, don’t miss “Hotel Transylvania”, an animated film that pays tribute to Dracula and Bram Stoker in a humorous, family-friendly tone. It is scheduled for release in France on February 13, 2013.

So, fans of vampire stories beware: Bram Stoker’s birthday is a good opportunity to discover this great fictional character, Count Dracula!
