From next year, travelers in southwest Europe will be able to take advantage of 3 ferries linking Spain to Ireland. Offered by Brittany Ferries, this route is aimed at all travelers wishing to reach Ireland by sea, using their own vehicle (motorcycle, car, camper van or bicycle). This practical route is ideal for connecting to Ireland, without having to travel through northern Europe.
Here’s more information on how these future crossings work.
Brittany Ferries’ new route started in 2023, but the company intends to expand it by adding 2 more ships to operate the crossings. This action will take effect from 2024 and will be operational throughout the coming year. It will link Bilbao in Spain to Rosslare in County Wexford, Ireland.
Connections can be made aboard 3 separate boats: the Salamanca, the Santoña and the Galicia. All are equipped with modern comforts and a host of features to brighten users’ journeys.
Each ferry will offer optional luxury cabins where families can relax. Add to that on-board bars and restaurants serving French and Spanish food, and you’ve got a treat on your hands! For added comfort, the ferries also offer stores and entertainment facilities for the whole family…
Passengers will be delighted to know that they will have to wait 30 hours before reaching the Irish coast!
The icing on the cake: all three boats are “E-Flexers”. This means they run on liquefied natural gas and are therefore environmentally friendly.
As a reminder, Brittany Ferries is a company with an unwavering commitment to the planet.
The many innovations implemented on our ships enable us to offset our carbon footprint, while offering maximum comfort to our passengers!
If you’d like to reach Ireland by sea from Spain, Brittany Ferries offers regular sailings at attractive prices. The company – which is our partner – offers attractive fares and a 5% discount if you book through Go to Ireland.com.
Important: as part of improvements to the port of Bilbao, you will need to go to the port of Santander from November 7, 2023 to March 25, 2024. After this date, you can catch your ferry at the port of Bilbao!
