Cliffs of Moher: a waterfall seems to flow backwards!
Les Falaises de Moher

Here’s a rare phenomenon that happened recently: Garry McNabb was hiking on the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland when he spotted a sort of waterfall… but the water was rising instead of following the logic of gravity!

Weird and bizarre you may say, but this phenomenon is perfectly explainable! It’s all down to the high winds: the large swell from the sea crashing against the cliffs pushes the water, which was initially in free fall, upwards.

The phenomenon is rare, but the hiker was lucky enough to capture it. Since then, the video has been creating a buzz on the web, making headlines on the news in Ireland and the USA.

A beautiful sight, observed from the edge of the cliffs, which seems to defy the laws of attraction!

We do, however, recommend that you visit the Cliffs of Moher in good weather: the south-westerly wind, when too strong, can present a real safety risk for tourists, and accidentally push you over the edge. What’s more, a clear sky will give you an unobstructed view of the cliffs: ideal for enjoying this exceptional tourist site to the full!
