Clare County Council in Ireland is planning to modernize the tourist facilities on the Cliffs of Moher. A colossal 16.5 million euro project, which should enable the country’s most popular tourist site to improve its reception capacities, offer visitors an optimal experience, and put in place additional secure structures, all the while respecting the environment.
The Cliffs of Moher are Ireland’s most important tourist attraction. Nevertheless, the site now seems undersized to accommodate the 1.6 million visitors every year. It would appear that the site is totally saturated in terms of its capacity: this leads to overcrowded parking lots, traffic jams on the approach to the Falaises, endless queues in summer, and so on.
The time has come, therefore, according to Clare County Council, to modernize the site.

It’s a colossal project, and an architect will have to be found for it. The order is clear: improve the site, while respecting it. There’s no question of Clare County Council denaturing the Cliffs of Moher: the idea is to protect them, and to include these improvements in a human and environmental perspective.
A major challenge. The project will take around 28 months to complete.
