A drummer who marked a whole generation with her pop-rock rhythms!

Talented musician, songwriter and drummer Caroline Corr has made a name for herself as one of the most accomplished Irish artists of her generation. As a member of The Corrs, she never ceased to set the tempo for the band’s songs! Pop-rock rhythms with a strong Irish influence!

Caroline Corr’s life and career

Caroline Georgina Corr was born on March 17, 1973 in Dundalk (Co. Louth), Ireland. At the time, she was part of a family of 4 children (Andrea Corr, Sharon Corr and Jim Corr). They all share the same passion for music. Andrea sings and plays tin whistle, Sharon plays piano and violin, while their brother Jim plays guitar.

So it was only natural for Caroline to take up the drums. She was 16 at the time.

She soon showed a definite talent for the instrument.

Everything accelerated in 1990, when the brother and the 3 sisters decided to form the group “The Corrs”. Caroline is the drummer and percussionist. In addition to the drums, she plays the bodhràn (a traditional Irish instrument), and also accompanies Andrea on vocals, as part of the chorus.

She brings exceptional energy and technique to the band’s performances. She also helped write some of the Corrs’ most popular songs.

From then on, the band performed in local Irish pubs in and around Dundalk. They also play at weddings and family events, quickly gaining notoriety for their unique music, which blends Irish influences with elements of pop and rock.

Their talent was then noticed and they signed with the Irish label 143 Records.

No sooner had the contract been signed than the band released their debut album, “Forgiven, Not Forgotten”, in 1995, which proved a big hit in Ireland and the UK thanks to the single Runaway.

However, it wasn’t until their second album, “Talk on Corners”, released in 1997, that the band achieved unprecedented international success.

The album went to number one in the UK for ten consecutive weeks, and sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

Corrs success in the 90s and early 2000s

The success of “Talk on Corners” propelled The Corrs onto the international scene, making them one of the most popular bands of the late 90s and early 2000s.

The whole world is fascinated by this family band from Ireland. Each member has his or her own identity, and Caroline Corr arouses curiosity and sympathy with her energetic live performances and constant smile.

The band went on to release a string of successful albums, including “In Blue” in 2000 and “Borrowed Heaven” in 2004.

However, they decided to take a break in 2006. Caroline is now concentrating on her family life, while Andrea Corr and Sharon Corr are pursuing solo careers.

However, the group reformed in 2015. Since their comeback, the Corrs have released two albums, 2015’s “White Light” and 2017’s “Jupiter Calling”, and toured to sell-out crowds around the world.
