In Ireland, breweries never cease to compete in terms of inventiveness and wacky beers! It’s up to whoever comes up with the most creative idea! And Dublin brewery Porterhouse Brewery Co. has come up with a stroke of genius, creating a stout like no other: Porterhouse Oyster Stout! The concept? Brew an innovative dark beer, with a taste of oyster and caramel! It’s true!
Let’s face it: in Ireland, there are no limits when it comes to creating original beer! Although we have to admit that the idea is a bit far-fetched, Porterhouse Oyster Stout is a real success.
Above all, don’t be too quick to judge and decide that it’s not for you. This Irish beer may well surprise you, and is becoming increasingly popular in Ireland!
If we had to sum it up, this is a smooth brown ale, exhaling notes of fresh oysters, caramel, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The whole is energized by full-bodied hops, iodine, salt and a few spices.
Porterhouse Oyster Stout takes a few minutes to get used to, but it can be a little unsettling when you first sip it. Full of character, it rivals the great Irish stouts such as Guinness, O’Hara’s and Murphy’s… with a touch of madness!
As you can see, this beer with oysters requires a little open-mindedness. Surprising, it often ends up charming and convincing.
It can also be enjoyed in pubs around Dublin. Beware: it’s mainly served by the bottle, and it’s hard to find it on draught (although there are exceptions).
You can also discover it on site, at its parent brewery in the north-east of the Irish capital.
What’s up? Will you dare to try it?
