For those with smaller stomachs, there’s an alternative format to the pint, served in Ireland’s Irish Pubs. The more reasonable among you can order the so-called “Half Pint”, the equivalent of a standard half-pint of beer… A good compromise!
The Half Pint is a glass containing exactly half a normal pint, or 284mL of beer. This format is served all over Ireland, and is aimed above all at people who don’t necessarily feel up to consuming the equivalent of a whole pint.
The smaller glass is shaped like a pint.
Please note, however, that ordering two half-pints is more expensive than ordering a normal pint… So it’s up to you to decide whether you’ll be tempted by a single half-pint, or a standard pint (a question of budget).
Generally speaking, half pint is a good alternative. Ideal for drinking beer in moderation and avoiding excess.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Drink in moderation.
