All of Dublin is snapping him up! An original hair clip in the shape of a pint of Guinness is currently the object of much envy! Created by an Irish artist by the name of Aoife McDermott, the clip has been all the rage, ever since it was shared on Instagram. So much so that the life of the artist behind the object is changing! Order book full, stocks sold out: it’s the consecration!

When a hair clip becomes an unexpected success!

Sales soar, demonstrating Irish attachment to Guinness

Dream Deli is a small Dublin-based artisanal business run by Aoife McDermott. Creative, she likes to propose original items inspired by gastronomy, such as incense burners in the shape of a bread baguette, posters showing the anatomy of a Breakfast roll… etc.

Until then, the business had been running, but without any great success…

But that was without counting on a hair clip in the shape of a pint of Guinness! The object is quite original, since the pint has been stylized with geometric shapes, as if it had been “crumpled”.

The result immediately created a buzz, when Aoife unveiled a photo of her very first hair accessory: a stout hair clip! The black and white clip (€15) looks just like a shiny pint of Guinness and opens in the middle to hold hair in place.

It was a dream for me to create something like this and achieve a certain level of design in real life, going through the research of my maker, drawing the pint, choosing the acetate, engraving the details and more,” Aoife wrote alongside a photo of the clip on Instagram. I simply couldn’t wait any longer to show you and announce that I’ll be putting my very first hair clip design up for pre-order next week!

The post garnered thousands of likes and shares on Instagram and TikTok, and was quickly picked up by popular pages in Ireland and by celebrities. The pliers sold out in less than three days after being put up for pre-order.

“All available pre-orders were booked in less than three days and all I can say is WOW,” said Aoife on Monday. You simply changed my life. I have hundreds of boxes to prepare now to keep me busy until production starts, with the hope that the stock will reach me in Dublin in early to mid-July and be shipped directly to you.

The pliers are currently out of stock. But we’re pretty sure that the artist will increase production quantities to better satisfy his customers!
