The end of a Temple Bar institution. Dublin’s famous Queen of Tarts tearoom has announced that it is to close. A real heartbreak for Dubliners who used to enjoy their daily Irish breakfasts, scones, sponge cakes, pies and delicious sandwiches here!

A closure that caused a stir in Temple Bar

A must-visit address… that’s looking to reinvent itself!

It’s official: Temple Bar’s Queen of Tarts is over! The news broke on Instagram and created a wave of nostalgia among regulars! It has to be said that the brand was a Dublin institution!

It was here, behind this gleaming red façade, that gourmets could savor delicious pastries, indulge in a smoked salmon sandwich, enjoy a “so Irish” breakfast, or a sumptuous dish of baked beans. Their cappuccinos were equally stunning, and the place had a cosy atmosphere, perfect for an impromptu brunch!

So a chapter closes for the establishment, but rest assured: this is not the end of the book! The owners of Queen of Tarts may be bidding farewell to their establishment… but they’ve taken the opportunity to announce the opening of a new project… in the same place!

In truth, behind this closure lies the desire to start a new adventure. And a new adventure means a new establishment and a new name! The owners also announced the forthcoming opening of“Il Valentino“, to be held within the walls of the former Queen of Tarts.

It’s an opportunity for them to reinvent themselves and totally rethink their menu and the way they work! It will still be a tearoom, with the same team at work, serving pastries, viennoiseries and savoury dishes… The whole thing will be in the spirit of Queen of Tarts, only better, according to the owners!

This will be the third Il Valentino outlet to open in Dublin (the first two being on Canal Dock and Mespil Road respectively).

All we have to do now is wait for the new store to open soon. We look forward to seeing you on Cows Lane in Temple Bar to find out more!
