In Cork, cinemas become windows onto the world every autumn. The Cork International Film Festival brings together Irish and international cinema, short films, documentaries and discussions: an invitation to discover the city through the images and stories it welcomes.

The Cork International Film Festival

A film festival rooted in Cork

Founded in the middle of the 20th century, the festival is part of Cork’s cultural history. It showcases films from Ireland and further afield, bringing together eagerly anticipated releases, discoveries and opportunities to meet film professionals.

For its 71st edition in 2026, the organiser has announced more than 200 films at several venues across the city. This variety allows visitors to create their own experience, from a single screening to several days devoted to the big screen.

What can you discover during the festival?

Screenings, short films and discussions

The programme includes feature films, documentaries, short films and special screenings. Some screenings are accompanied by discussions or events for film professionals. Family-friendly offerings and school events complete the programme.

The programme is mainly in English or in the films’ original languages; check the subtitles for each screening if you are not fluent in English. Films, venues and booking information are listed on the festival’s official website.

Visiting Cork during the festival

Combining cinema with discovering the city

Allow some time between screenings to explore Cork city centre, its streets and cafés. As screenings take place at several venues, check the exact address before setting off each time. Booking in advance is recommended for the most popular screenings.
