After dark, the forest at The Jungle takes on a different character. Figures appear between the trees, paths vanish into the darkness, and actors seem to emerge at the precise moment you begin to let your guard down. Welcome to Fright Night, one of Northern Ireland’s most intense Halloween experiences.
Held near Moneymore in County Londonderry, this immersive event transforms an outdoor activity park into a vast horror territory. A scripted woodland trail, haunted houses, actors, special effects and shows come together for an evening designed for thrill-seekers.
Fright Night at The Jungle, Northern Ireland
Fright Night returns in 2026 for eleven evenings held between 16 and 31 October. The event takes place at The Jungle, 60 Desertmartin Road, Moneymore.
Despite what its nickname might suggest, Fright Night is not held in the city of Derry-Londonderry. Moneymore is in County Londonderry, around a 45-minute drive from both Derry and Belfast.
The experience takes place almost entirely outdoors. Visitors make their way through woodland, dark paths, immersive sets and several actor-filled horror attractions.
The most sought-after time slots, particularly on Fridays, Saturdays and the evening of 31 October, can sell out well in advance.
Fright Night is built around two types of experience: the Woodland Trail and the Scare Attractions.
The Woodland Trail is a guided, scripted walk of around 45 minutes through the forest. Rather than simply delivering one scare after another, it tells a story in which visitors themselves become characters.
The Scare Attractions are six shorter, more intense experiences spread across the site. Each has its own set, atmosphere and actors. Some draw on darkness, confined spaces or jump scares.
Each Scare Attraction lasts approximately 5 to 15 minutes and requires a token. They can be visited in any order, before or after your booked Woodland Trail slot.
You can book the woodland trail only, the attractions only, or a package combining both. Most visitors choose a mixed package to enjoy the full experience.
The Woodland Trail is the most immersive part of Fright Night. Participants follow a guided route through the woods, in an environment combining actors, special effects and cinematic sets.
The experience is not simply about walking from one frightening scene to the next. A genuine narrative accompanies the group and continues throughout the trail.
In 2026, the story picks up where the previous edition left off. Regular visitors will therefore find some familiar narrative elements, though no knowledge of previous editions is required to take part.
The trail lasts around 45 minutes. It must be booked for a specific time, and visitors are asked to arrive on site 15 to 20 minutes before the time shown on their confirmation.
The ground may be muddy, uneven and slippery. The trail goes ahead even in the rain, except where weather conditions are severe enough to require cancellation.
The Scare Attractions offer a different experience from the woodland trail. They are shorter, more direct and built primarily around surprise.
The organisers have announced six themed worlds for 2026, but have not revealed their names or detailed content. This is intended to preserve the surprise and prevent visitors from knowing exactly what awaits them.
The experiences may include spaces plunged into darkness, narrow passages, strobe effects and very close encounters with actors.
Actors may approach participants or brush against them as part of the staging. They are not, however, permitted to deliberately injure visitors.
A token is required to enter each attraction. Additional tokens may be purchased on site for £15 each, subject to availability.
The major new addition announced for 2026 is called The Side Show. This performance takes inspiration from old travelling shows and their unsettling fairground world.
For 15 to 20 minutes, performers present fire-breathing, sword-swallowing, knife-throwing and crossbow-shooting acts.
The show runs every 30 minutes, but audience numbers are limited. An attraction token is required to attend.
Show times are displayed on arrival at the site. It is best to choose a performance quickly so as not to disrupt the rest of the evening.
The experience does not end when you leave the Woodland Trail or the haunted houses. Costumed characters move around the different areas and may intervene at any moment.
Shows are also held on the main stage. The 2026 edition notably marks the return of Vax, one of Fright Night’s iconic characters.
The organisers have announced the presence of specialist actors and performers from the United Kingdom and the United States. Their work relies on improvisation, close interaction with the public and the ability to sustain an unsettling atmosphere throughout the evening.
Between experiences, food outlets serve burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries, crêpes, hot drinks and a range of snacks.
The Woodland Trail lasts around 45 minutes. Each additional attraction takes 5 to 15 minutes, plus any queueing and walking time.
Most visitors spend between two and three hours on site. A package including the woodland trail and all six attractions may take longer on the busiest evenings.
A Fast Track upgrade provides priority access to the attractions. Only 50 wristbands are available each evening, priced at £15 per person.
Fast Track may be worthwhile on Fridays, Saturdays and 31 October. It does not, however, remove the need to keep to your booked Woodland Trail time.
Fright Night is strictly reserved for people aged 12 and over. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the experience.
The organisers recommend thinking carefully before bringing a child under 14. Some scenes are graphic or disturbing and may include coarse language, screams, strobe effects and confined spaces.
The event is primarily intended for teenagers and adults who enjoy horror experiences. It is particularly suited to groups of friends, couples and group outings.
For families with young children, The Jungle runs a separate event called Hallowee’uns. This daytime experience includes pumpkins, a haunted cart ride, a dance party and far less frightening activities.
Fright Night is not recommended for people with heart or blood pressure problems, photosensitive epilepsy, claustrophobia, mobility difficulties or an extreme fear of the dark.
The organisers also advise against the experience for pregnant people. If in any medical doubt, it is best not to take part.
Phones, torches, cameras and video cameras are prohibited inside the Woodland Trail and Scare Attractions. Anyone using this equipment may be removed without a refund. Photography remains permitted in the courtyard and between attractions.
Visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused entry to the experiences. Groups must stay together and follow instructions given by the actors and staff.
Most of the evening takes place outdoors, on woodland paths and uneven surfaces. Wear closed shoes with good grip.
Heels, sandals and flimsy footwear are strongly discouraged. In wet weather, old hiking shoes or waterproof boots are a more sensible option.
Bring several layers, a waterproof jacket and clothing that can cope with rain and mud. Umbrellas can be cumbersome in narrow spaces: a hood is more practical.
The event continues in the rain. Only extreme weather conditions are likely to result in changes or cancellation.

The site is in a rural area, and travelling by car is the most practical option. The journey takes around 45 minutes from Derry-Londonderry or Belfast, depending on traffic.
Parking is free in a large gravel car park opposite The Jungle. After parking, visitors must use the small wooden bridge and then the underpass. Do not cross the road directly.
Cabins and glamping accommodation are available on the estate. They can be added to a booking, but numbers are limited.
