County Derry (also called Londonderry) is a beautiful region in Northern Ireland, known for its lovely coastline and the beauty of its countryside. It also has some rather nice archaeological sites, which are very well preserved.

A region steeped in history…

However, the Derry area is also sadly famous for its painful history, involving two communities: the Catholic republicans and the Protestant unionists, both clashing since the second half of the 20th century. It was in this region, more precisely in the city of Derry, that the terrible Bloody Sunday episode (1972) took place.

Fortunately, the current peace process has helped improve the political situation in the region, and conflicts have greatly diminished…
