Introducing Les Mince Pies
A fruit-based Tartelette served at Christmas time…

Thin magpies – Alex9500
Mince Pies, traditionally served at Christmas in Ireland, are sprinkled with powdered sugar. The latter generally use seasonal fruits, which, when reduced to a sweet filling, offer an incomparable flavor: jams can just go to hell!
Irish people usually eat them at the end of a meal, or as a snack, accompanied by a hot drink and a custard. It’s enough to make a meal in its own right, to the delight of gourmets!
Recipe: Les Mince Pies
Ingredients
- Number of people: 8
- Preparation time: 20mn
- Cooking time : 15 mn
- 500 g peeled apples
- 250 g blueberries (or blackcurrants)
- 350 g raisins
- 200 g sugar
- 150 ml calvados
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 1 juice of 2 oranges
- 1 zest of 2 oranges
- 2 rolls shortcrust pastry

Preparation
- Let’s start with the apples. Before starting, they must be peeled, washed and cut into fine cubes.
- Then place them in a large salad bowl, and add all the above ingredients. Don’t hesitate to stir to obtain a homogeneous whole.
- The next step is even simpler: cover the top of the bowl with cling film, and leave the mixture in the fridge for 24 hours.
- The next day, butter your tartlet molds and line them with shortcrust pastry. All you need to do is add the filling from your salad bowl, cover them with a little shortcrust pastry, put them in the oven for 15 minutes at gas mark 5 and you’re done!
- Ideally, serve Minces Pies dusted with powdered sugar, with custard, tea or a tall glass of milk!
