Even though it’s already 15 years since the series went off the air, Friends is one of the cult programs of an entire generation. And it looks like viewers are missing the group of 6 friends! To remedy this, a musical dedicated to Friends will be staged in Dublin, Ireland, in May 2020.
The tone is already set, as the musical is called “Friends! The Musical Parody”.
The pitch: celebrate and mock the zany adventures of the series’ most famous group of friends. Discover their adventures as they navigate the difficulties of everyday life, from the pitfalls of work to flirtations, love and friendship in 1990s Manhattan.
Friends! The Musical Parody
Nevertheless, the musical is humble and unpretentious. It’s out of the question for them to try and “reproduce” the series identically. This comedy seems more like a wink, a way of reminiscing, without pretension or any desire to compete with the indestructible TV series. Nevertheless, the cast is brilliant, and the characters of Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross are easily recognizable. The latter look like them, play on the same registers as the original actors, and pay tribute to their characters, as funny and touching as ever.
A fine piece of entertainment, of course, performed exclusively in English, and playing at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from Thursday May 14 to Saturday May 16, 2020 in Dublin, Ireland.
Tickets will cost €19 and go on sale this Friday, September 20 from 10am at Ticketmaster. Hurry: the show is sure to draw a crowd!
