Game of Thrones

HBO has suffered a major blow: the American production company that had launched the Irish shoot of the“Bloodmoon” series has cancelled the project. The aim of this prequel was to revisit the origins of the White Walkers, the history of Westeros, the building of the Wall and the various legends surrounding the work of George R.R. Martin.

Bad news for fans, who were counting on a prestigious cast including the beautiful Naomi Watts, James Metcalfe Campbell Bower, Nomi Ackie, Denise Goughrt, Toby Regbo…etc.

Nevertheless, HBO has not said its last word, and has just announced a new series project linked to the Game of Thrones saga. Entitled “House of the Dragon”, it will tell the story of House Targaryen, 300 years before the story told in the main Game of Thrones series.

It will be co-created by George R.R. Martin, author of the books on which Game of Thrones is based, and screenwriter Ryan Condal.

No release date has yet been announced. But many are venturing to say that Ireland could once again serve as a filming location, as it did for the original series. Indeed, Northern Ireland was one of the iconic locations that brought Westeros to life…

So there’s plenty to look forward to: even if Bloodmoon is cancelled, it could give rise to another prequel just as exciting!
