Guinness creates a buzz and launches Guinness 0.0, an alcohol-free beer
Une Guinness 0.0

Some will cry scandal, while others will welcome this innovation. The Guinness brewery has just launched its very first alcohol-free stout. Named Guinness 0.0, it would have all the characteristics of a normal Guinness… except that it would be alcohol-free. Tastes would be preserved, with the illusion of drinking a normal stout… It’s a breakthrough that somewhat upsets the codes of the traditional Guinness alcoholic pint… which has sold over a million pints a day in Ireland since 1759.

Alcohol-free Guinness to be available in Irish pubs from next spring

The Diageo group is betting on a new product that is already dividing dark beer fans.

Guinness 0.0 is the new alcohol-free beer from the brewers of St. Gallen. St. James’s Gate, Dublin. A beer using the same natural ingredients as the original stout: water, barley, hops and yeast… and the same know-how.

The alcohol is then removed by cold filtration. A process that in no way alters the drink’s other taste qualities. The result would be a Guinness perfectly identical to the alcoholic one… The taste would then be perfect, as would its roundness and bitterness… The touch of chocolate and coffee is preserved, as are its caramel notes. Only the alcohol would be lacking.

Although there’s a lot of talk about this novelty (Guinness is often regarded as an indestructible institution in Ireland), more and more Irish people are confessing to being interested in this innovation.

Guinness 0.0. would be an asset for Irish people wishing to enjoy a pint of stout, without suffering the effects of alcohol. Perfect for avoiding fines in the car: you stay sober, while enjoying the taste of beer.

The icing on the cake: this new beer is low in calories, with just 16 calories per 100 ml.

Guinness 0.0 will be available in Irish pubs in Ireland and Great Britain from spring 2021. It will be offered on draught, and will also be available in can form, in supermarkets on the Emerald Isle a little later in 2021.
