Guinness has come up with a new idea: in the run-up to Christmas, the famous Irish brewery has had the idea of creating coasters that can be used as postcards! It’s an opportunity for Irish pub-goers to have a pint, and a little holiday cheer for their loved ones!

These coasters are free with every purchase of a pint of the famous Irish stout. Then all you have to do is write your note!

To make the project possible, Guinness teamed up with An Post, Ireland’s national post office, to make its coasters available throughout Ireland.

The icing on the cake is that you don’t need a stamp to post them, nor do you have to go to the Post Office to send them. These coasters are already stamped, and each Irish pub participating in the operation already has a mini letterbox where you can leave your card! The Irish Post Office will be on hand daily to send out the postcards!

So all you have to do is order a Guinness, write your postcard on the spot… and post it… Without leaving the Irish pub! Simple, practical and user-friendly!

There are already over 100 Irish pubs taking part in the operation in Ireland.

As an added incentive, Guinness has also teamed up with charity ALONE to support older people living alone at Christmas with a donation for every pint sold.

“The pub and post office are part of the Irish community – especially at this time of year. Christmas is all about connecting with friends and family. So we were delighted to collaborate with An Post and the ALONE charity to turn our Guinness coasters into Christmas cards to help consumers connect with friends and loved ones at home and abroad.” said Alan McAleenan of Guinness.

It’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit, bring family and friends together… and all in a setting so dear to the Irish: the Irish pub! There’s no denying it: Guinness are clever.
