Abandoned at birth in 1937, Eileen Macken, an 82-year-old Irish woman, has just found the whereabouts of her mother Elizabeth, then aged 104! An unforgettable encounter that touched the whole of Ireland, so touching was the story of this reunion.
Brought up in a Dublin orphanage, Eileen Macken began her search for her mother’s identity at the age of 19. It took him more than 60 years of tenacious research to get there!
63 years later, with the help of a genealogist, this Dubliner finally learned that her mother was still alive, and living in Scotland!
Unable to bear it any longer, Eileen Macken, accompanied by her husband and daughter, decided to go and meet her Irish mother last month, without announcing her arrival. After knocking on the door of the house, she meets a man, her half-brother.
She then entered the house and saw her mother for the first time, sitting in an armchair, reading the newspaper.

A very strong bond was created, and it was really fantastic.
The 2 women were able to take the time to talk and get to know each other. A great moment of shared happiness, where mother and daughter enjoyed each other’s company. This unusual fact has moved the whole of Ireland!
