The study behind this ranking was carried out by travel website Big7Travel, in conjunction with EnjoyTravel.com. And the result is clear: Ireland is a particularly welcoming and safe country for women wishing to explore solo.
The study was carried out in over 100 countries worldwide, based on the following 8 criteria:

And for the occasion, Ireland shone, scoring no less than 51 points to climb to ninth place on the list of the world’s safest countries for women.
According to the study, only 15% of Irish women have experienced violence, with the female homicide rate remaining low and almost 70% of women feeling safe walking at night.
The Irish population is also highly sensitive to violence against women. Almost 99% of Irish people would strongly condemn any form of violence or sexism against women. What’s more, this type of violence is said to provoke anger and indignation among Irish men!
