Snow in Ireland for the end of the year?

Met Eireann announces a high-pressure system conducive to snowfall!

Long-term weather forecasts indicate that Ireland could soon experience wintry conditions with the arrival of snowfall towards the end of November and beginning of December.

The regions most affected by this precipitation would be those on the east coast, including County Dublin and County Wicklow. Northern Ireland could also see snow showers, including County Antrim, and more specifically the city of Belfast.

Snow is expected in Northern Ireland from November 25, while the rest of the country should see its first flakes around November 28.

Despite these cold forecasts, temperatures are expected to remain above the seasonal average.

Met Éireann, the national meteorological agency, has specified that weather conditions will be governed mainly by an anticyclone. Nevertheless, weather conditions will remain uncertain with the possibility of precipitation and low temperatures.

There’s plenty for Christmas lovers to enjoy: spending the festive season in Dublin with a thin layer of snow could well plunge you into a fairytale like no other! Add to that the city’s decorations and lights, and you’ve got an atmosphere full of magic!
