In less than a month, Ireland will have its very first naturist beach! A beach to be located at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey, near Dublin.
Unusual news for a country with such conservative mores (let’s not forget that Ireland is above all Catholic), which seems to divide the local population between indignation and approval.
Some see this as great progress, allowing nudists to have their own beach, while others see it as a form of inappropriate behavior.
“We don’t go out to offend anyone. We just want to go there, enjoy the sun, the water, the swimming… but we don’t want to wear anything, that’s all.“Pat Gallagher of the Irish Naturist Association is quoted as saying.
The beach will be officially open to naturists from April 2018. Of course, those wishing to go dressed will be able to do so freely.
But you can expect to come across people… in all their finery.
