Remember, this photo made headlines several years ago… It featured an alleged Irish castle, built on top of an island… which provoked admiration and doubt among Internet users. Even after years, the photo reappears from time to time on the web, recreating the question…
Is it possible that such an Irish castle exists? …and if so, where? We take a closer look at this photo, which continues to create a buzz…
The photo was shared several thousand times on the Web. When it first appeared on the networks in the 2010s, it caused quite a stir.
For some, the island was rumored to be in the Dublin region of Ireland… While others simply cried hoax…
It turns out that this shot is a pure Photoshop montage. The place doesn’t exist… and remains the fruit of the imagination of inspired graphic designers!
Worse still, there’s absolutely nothing Irish about either the site or the castle. The photo has absolutely nothing to do with Ireland!
James Bond Island in Thailand
After investigation, it turns out that the photo actually represents “James Bond Island”, also known as “Khao Phing Kan”, a Thai island famous for its atypical shape (eroded at the base). The photo has been doctored to show part of Lichtenstein Castle, which is actually located near Honau in Germany!
Nothing real, and certainly nothing Irish. Don’t look far and wide in County Dublin: the region has some magnificent castles, but not this one.
Proof that on the Web, you should always check your sources… and beware of appearances! Be that as it may, the shot has the merit of making us dream, and allowing us to imagine fantastic places… But you don’t necessarily need to invent imaginary places to fill up on beautiful spots: Ireland has its fair share of 100% real places that are well worth a visit!
