Le Titanic serait en train de disparaître

Who could have imagined that the Irish liner Titanic, infamous for its tragic sinking in 1912 in the Atlantic Ocean, would today be a place to propose marriage? Thanks to Apoteosurprise, a French company offering “Unusual Weddings”, it is now possible to seal your union near the bow of the famous ship. A unique experience that both seduces and divides!

Experience an extraordinary marriage proposal close to the Titanic!

An experience with a hefty price tag!

If you have the means, and you like unique experiences, then the Apoteosurprise agency might just surprise you. Couples from all over the world are invited to propose on the wreck of the Titanic!

All you have to do is climb aboard a submarine designed for deep-sea exploration, and let yourself descend to a depth of over 3,800 metres! Couples can, of course, be accompanied by a team of professional scientists and explorers to navigate to the wreck and make their request in front of their spouse.

They use the latest equipment and the most advanced techniques to reach this historic site, and offer a completely safe experience.

The craft is equipped with modern navigation systems and an HD video camera that allows the lucky few to see each other through the deep water. They can then admire the wreck of the ship originally built in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now lying here in the depths, admiring every nook and cranny, before declaring their love for the love of their lives!

As the icing on the cake, you’ll take a submarine ride right by the railing where Jack and Rose kissed for the first time in James Cameron’s film Titanic.

Mixed reactions to the service

Scientists’ and historians’ views on marriage on the wreck

This unique opportunity is strongly criticized by experts such as Robert Ballard and Jean-Louis Michel, who believe that the site is being sacrificed to satisfy commercial interests. The wreck, already in poor condition, is said to be disappearing, and the comings and goings of submarines are accelerating its deterioration.

For others, proposing next to the Titanic would be tantamount to desecration. The wreck is often considered a burial ground, with many people calling for the place to be left alone.

But the subject is as divisive as it is unifying.

Other experts point out that, despite the criticisms, such an experience allows us to remember the beauty of the wreck, and to achieve first-rate technical prowess.

The fact that couples come here to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean as a sign of love is incredible; it doesn’t detract from the dignity of the place,” says Titanic historian Florentine Sorgelmose.

A titanic price tag for an impressive experience

There remains the question of the cost of such an experience. The Apoteosurprise company is asking for no less thanone million euros to enable you to propose to the love of your life at a depth of over 3800 metres!

It all takes place off the coast of Newfoundland. If the budget doesn’t scare you, you can propose to the sound of James Cameron’s original soundtrack, Céline Dion’s My Heart will go on.

Romantic or not? You be the judge!
