La saison 2 de la série Mercredi sera tournée en Irlande

After the huge success of season 1, Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” series is back for another season… to be filmed in Ireland! Forget Romania, where the series was filmed: the show will be setting down roots in Ireland to initiate a new plot, while enjoying the authentic landscapes of green Erin!

The Mercredi series forgoes Romania in favor of Ireland

A choice welcomed by fans of the show

Ireland remains a particularly popular country in the world of cinema and TV series. Between the Vikings series, the Banshees of Inisherin film and The Last Duel, the Emerald Isle is often regarded as a little European Hollywood.

With its majestic landscapes and film studios, the country never ceases to attract large-scale projects.

And it looks like it’s the turn of the “Mercredi” series to take an interest in Ireland.

Although Romania was an attractive location, the production decided to change the filming location for logistical reasons.

Ireland would have seemed an ideal choice, not only for its geographical location, but also for its setting and the charm of its landscapes. And the incredible castles of Ireland, whether intact or in ruins, would provide the perfect backdrop for Nevermore Academy, the school where most of the plot had previously taken place.

Although little is known about the content of season 2, one thing is certain: the production is counting on an atmosphere in keeping with the first season. It would seem that Ireland can fulfill this contract!

Shooting is due to start by April 2024, so we’ll have to wait many months before we can see the new season.

However, the Irish are already enthusiastic about the idea of a new shoot on their territory. As yet, no one knows exactly which locations will be used for the series.

However, locals are hoping that “Wednesday” will breathe new life into the Irish island. In fact, every film or series shot in Ireland has the advantage of boosting local tourism considerably, shedding new light on the green island. The filming locations are literally overrun, attracting tourists from all over the world.

A phenomenon already observed in the Game of Thrones series, Vikings, and films such as Braveheart, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Banshees of Inisherin.
