Netflix, the well-known streaming platform, seems ready to turn the page on the British royal family with the Windsor saga to focus on another equally fascinating clan: the Kennedys.
According to an article in Variety, Netflix is actively working on a series that will highlight the life of John F. Kennedy, one of America’s most iconic presidents.
The series will be based primarily on the biography “JFK: Coming Of Age In The American Century, 1917-1956” written by Fredrik Logevall.
Published in 2020, this two-volume book offers a meticulous exploration of JFK’s life. The first volume covers his birth, education, and time as a Massachusetts senator.
The second volume, yet to be published, will describe his spectacular rise to the presidency.
The talent of Eric Roth, who has already won an Oscar for best screenplay with “Forrest Gump”, will add an extra dimension to the project. As writer and producer, he is currently in charge of this project in development, and intends to deliver a series far removed from previous attempts at other series dedicated to the Irish-American.
However, the production is still looking for the director and showrunner who can bring this vision to the screen.
According to rumors, Netflix sees this series as the American answer to “The Crown”. It would be a journey through American history, seen through the prism of JFK’s tumultuous life.
The series will undoubtedly tell the story of the president’s entire life, from his birth to his terrible assassination, which plunged America into a state of terror never seen before. It’s a safe bet that this eagerly-awaited series will be running for several seasons!
