Three final appearances in very different worlds
Sam Neill has not yet said goodbye to the big screen. The unforgettable actor who played Alan Grant in Jurassic Park had completed filming on several productions before his death. Audiences will be able to see him in 2027 in a fantasy film, a blockbuster populated by giant monsters and a romantic comedy.
A mysterious role in The Legend of Zelda
Sam Neill will be part of the cast of the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. Filming wrapped in New Zealand in April 2026, but the identity of his character remains secret.
Directed by Wes Ball, the film will star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. Uli Latukefu will play Ganondorf, while Dichen Lachman will portray Impa. It is currently scheduled for release on 30 April 2027.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova
The actor will also appear in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, the next instalment in the MonsterVerse. Directed by Grant Sputore, the film will feature Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine and Delroy Lindo, among others. Sam Neill’s role has not yet been revealed. The film is due for release on 26 March 2027.
The Last Resort, a romantic comedy set in the Philippines
Sam Neill’s posthumous appearances will be rounded off by The Last Resort. This romantic comedy, starring Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich, follows a hotel manager sent to the Philippines to find a location for a new resort.
The actor plays the father of Daisy Ridley’s character, a powerful businessman who runs several hotels. The film will be released in 2027, but its exact release date has not yet been announced.

From Northern Ireland to the biggest film sets
Born on 14 September 1947 in Omagh, Northern Ireland, Sam Neill moved to New Zealand with his family at the age of seven. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he worked on both independent films and major Hollywood productions.
As well as Jurassic Park, he made his mark in Possession, The Piano, The Hunt for Red October, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and the series Peaky Blinders. The actor, who died in Sydney aged 78, will make one final appearance on screen in 2027, between the kingdom of Hyrule, the creatures of the MonsterVerse and the landscapes of the Philippines.
