The long-awaited filming of Star Wars 7 will be taking place in Ireland this August! And it’s precisely on the island of Skellig Michael that J.J. Abrams plans to shoot scenes from the upcoming film! This 100% wilderness island, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a real gem, with its impressive nature and archaeological remains.
For the occasion, Disney managed to close off the island to tourists, so that it could be filmed in peace and quiet, although access to Skellig Michael is particularly difficult (no harbor, no traces of habitation nowadays).
Filming on location is expected to last less than 72 hours, so fans will have to wait a few more months to enjoy the sumptuous panoramas offered by Skellig Michael! Patience: Stars Wars 7 is definitely full of promise!
