Following the huge success of The Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell, a spin-off series is reportedly in the works. And it will be entirely dedicated to the Penguin character! Embodied by Irish actor Colin Farrell, the program promises a dark immersion in the DC Comics universe. To mark the occasion, the first images have been unveiled, and reveal an absolutely unrecognizable Colin Farrell, disguised as a terrifying penguin!
Released in 2022, The Batman directed by Matt Reeves was a great success. Over and above the screenplay, it was a huge hit with audiences and critics alike, thanks to an astonishing Robert Pattinson.
But the actor who created a real surprise was Colin Farrell, who, with the help of remarkable make-up, completely revisited the character of the Penguin, delivering an exceptional performance.
The spin-off from the film, entitled “The Penguin”, is an opportunity for Colin Farrell to reprise the role, and deliver another colorful performance.
And the first images live up to all our expectations! A recent image of Colin Farrell as the Penguin has been revealed, potentially suggesting scenes set at the Iceberg Lounge, an iconic location in the Gotham universe.
Colin Farrell in “The Penguin” series
Colin Farrell appears fully guised, with a bald spot, a scar across his face and a great deal of excess weight. His attributes make him completely unrecognizable: only his eyes remind us that it’s really the Irish actor playing the part!
The series promises a more intense and violent exploration of the Gotham universe, surpassing even “The Batman” in intensity. The 8-episode series will take place shortly after the events of “The Batman”, focusing on the mafia activities of Oswald Cobblepot (the Penguin) following the death of Carmine Falcone, his boss.
The series, entitled “The Penguin”, is scheduled for release in 2024 on the Max streaming service in the U.S., but the platform for release in Europe remains unknown.
This series promises to be a crucial chapter in “The Batman” saga, as we await the release of the second installment scheduled for October 1, 2025.
