7500€. That’s the price you’ll have to pay for the world’s most expensive whiskey. The latter is called
Chosen
and is produced in Ireland by the Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey distillery, based in County Clare.
This house produces exceptional whsikey. Its founder, Louise McGuane, had the idea of converting her family farm into a fully-fledged distillery. The objective? Producing whiskey in its most perfect expression. And the company is not afraid of excess… Far from it.
That’s why the family business has just launched “The Chosen”, a 27-year-old single malt whiskey. Its price: 7500€! This makes it without doubt the most expensive whiskey ever sold on the planet.
The latter is presented as a perfect Irish whiskey, sold in an engraved crystal bottle. It comes in an ash wood box, finely hand-carved by craftsman John Galvin Design.
The Chosen is a celebration of Irish whiskey excellence. Irish whiskey is not usually praised for its quality and rarity, like Scotch whisky. Nevertheless, Ireland has some of the best stocks of mature whiskeys in the world, yet the industry underestimates itself. I want to change that. Our approach to whiskey-making celebrates tradition, innovation and our quest for excellence. says Louise McGuane
Although the price may seem exorbitant, The Chosen already seems to be finding buyers. Produced in a limited edition, it is currently the object of envy among many whiskey enthusiasts and lovers.
In any case, it’s expensive per sip. Let’s hope the distillery’s promise lives up to its price tag.
