Brittany Ferries is one of the leading companies offering round-trip services to Ireland.

Its boats, the Pont-Aven and the Salamanca, multiply connections from Europe to ensure pleasant and interesting journeys for all traveler profiles.

Their main selling point is that you can take your own vehicle with you: a major advantage, especially at a time when car rental rates in Ireland are prohibitive!

Rest assured: you’ll make substantial savings by choosing to take your car with Brittany Ferries rather than renting a car locally!

Brittany Ferries offers 3 routes between France and Ireland:

  • ROSCOFF/CORK: 2 departures a week from April to October:
    • Departure on Tuesday for arrival on Wednesday
    • Departure on Friday for arrival on Saturday
    • Return on Saturday for arrival on Sunday
    • Return on Wednesday for arrival on Thursday
  • CHERBOURG/ROSSLARE: 1 departure per week all year round:
    • Departure on Tuesday for arrival on Wednesday
    • Return on Monday for arrival on Tuesday
  • LE HAVRE/ROSSLARE (new): 1 departure per week
    • Departure on Friday for arrival on Saturday
    • Return on Saturday for arrival on Sunday

The well-equipped boat offers a comfortable and pleasant crossing. Onboard catering and coffee service available.

The crossing can be made with your vehicle on board, but the fare is more expensive (expect to pay around a hundred euros one way with your car and a passenger). Nevertheless, the cost of the crossing is often lower than that of renting a car locally! (Especially as your steering wheel will remain on the left, unlike Irish cars! This is your chance to try out left-hand drive without being too disturbed).

The company is rather interesting and offers attractive prices. But be sure to book your tickets as early as possible: the earlier you book, the better your chances of saving money. Journeys can be booked online via the Brittany Ferries website.

Be sure to arrive early for boarding, as ferries require you to arrive at least 60 minutes before departure, so that all passengers and vehicles can board efficiently. (Passengers travelling with pets must present themselves for boarding at least 90 minutes before departure).
