You’ve got your plane ticket in your bag, and you’re planning to land in Belfast and then head for the city center? Here’s some practical information to help you get to Belfast without a hitch, whether you’re on foot or have booked a rental car on the spot!
Before going any further, there’s an essential concept to be aware of. Belfast has 2 airports:
Generally speaking, if you’re flying from France, Belgium or Switzerland, you’ll be landing at Belfast International Airport… (Count on Belfast City Airport if you’re arriving from the UK).
However, Belfast International Airport is geographically remote from the city. It’s around 45 minutes from the center of town, which means you’ll need to take the road… by bus, cab or rental car.
Regular bus services are available from Belfast Airport Terminal. Simple and fast, they include the Airport Express 300 service, which runs 7 days a week and connects the airport with Belfast city center.
During rush hour, this line runs every 15 minutes for greater fluidity.
Tickets are available from the tourist information office in arrivals or from the bus driver himself. Expect to pay £8 one way, and £11.50 return.

Belfast International Airport also offers an extensive cab service from the Terminal.
Although more expensive than the bus, it offers more comfortable travel conditions, with the possibility of stopping at the precise location of your choice… Perfect for avoiding unnecessary walking, dragging your luggage behind you!
The cab service is run by the International Airport Taxi Company, a service that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You’ll find them just outside the right-hand door of the airport exit hall.
Of course, only cabs licensed by Belfast International Airport are allowed to use the cab rank. A list of sample fares is displayed in the terminal exit hall.
