Opening hours in Ireland

Opening hours in Ireland

Horaires

Shopping hours in Ireland differ little from those in France and elsewhere. Many shops and museums offer flexible opening hours, and it’s important to be aware of them so you don’t end up with a closed door…

Shop opening hours

  • Stores in Ireland are open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.
  • Some shops are open longer on Thursdays, sometimes until 8pm-9pm (except in big cities like Dublin, where some mini-markets are open until midnight, notably on O’Connell Street).
  • Tobacconists, on the other hand, open around 7am and close later (often around 9pm).

Opening Hours of Museums and Tourist Sites

Museum opening and closing times vary according to season and location. However, most of them are open from 9am to 5pm…

The same goes for most of Ireland’s tourist attractions. But beware of the seasons: some of them are closed during the winter…

Pub opening times

Pubs in Ireland are open:

  • Monday to Thursday, 10:20 a.m. to 11:20 p.m. (excluding public holidays)
  • Friday to Saturday, 10:20 a.m. to 12:20 a.m. (excluding public holidays)
  • Sundays from 12:20pm to 11:20pm (excluding public holidays)

Mealtimes are often more relaxed than in France. So there’s no need to ask for the menu at 2pm or 10pm… The Irish often eat earlier, and few Pubs escape this habit.

Please note that some pubs may have to wait an extra half-hour for the last customers to empty their glasses. In any case, you’ll never be thrown out on your ear: most Irish pubs go beyond their advertised opening hours… It’s a great way to keep the good times rolling!
