You’re planning a trip to Ireland, but can’t leave your furry friend behind? Don’t panic: there are solutions for transporting your dog or cat to Ireland, whether by plane or ferry.

Bringing pets into Ireland

Pets from the European continent

There are few restrictions on bringing your dog to Ireland if you are an EU citizen. Quarantine only applies to a small list defined by the UK PETS Pilot Project.

For further information, please contact the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 0870 241 1710 (for Southern Ireland), or ++ 44 28 905 24717 (for Northern Ireland).

Pets from Great Britain

If you’re travelling from the UK with your pet, then the procedure is much simpler. Unless you have a dangerous animal such as an attack dog (Pittbull, Doberman, etc.), you will not be subject to any restrictions, and will be able to discover Ireland without having to quarantine your pet.

A little more practical than for other European countries!
