The Kilbeggan Distillery Experience is an Irish distillery located in County Westmeath. With a small museum inside, the distillery is open to visitors all year round, allowing you to discover all the stages in whiskey production, from the grain-grinding process to the kilning of Kilbeggan whiskey.

You can visit the first Kilbeggan whiskey-making sites, as well as the large stills used to triple-distill the beverage (triple distillation is a unique feature of Irish whiskeys).
Here you’ll learn that the town’s whiskey is made from barley, malted corn and clear water, boiled and then distilled 3 times in large copper stills. The resulting beverage is then stored in oak casks, and aged for periods ranging from 10 to 30 years in a large room where hundreds of barrels of unripe whiskeys are stored. The setting is splendid, surrounded by thick walls of imposing granite stone blocks: a marvel!
Most of the equipment and machinery on display dates back to the early days of Kilbeggan Distillery! Here you’ll find a steam engine dating from 1887, as well as fermentation vats up to 9 metres high!
At the end of your visit, enjoy a glass of Kilbeggan whiskey to prolong the pleasure. Finally, if you like the taste of this beverage, don’t miss the onsite shop, where you’ll find plenty of Kilbeggan-branded glassware, not to mention the many bottles of Kilbeggan whiskey for sale on site. (To be consumed in moderation, of course).
