The body of a sperm whale washed up on the west coast of Ireland. This is the third case recorded at the start of 2019.
The whale was found on Sunday at Mace Head – Moyrus in Connemara (County Galway). According to specialists, the mammal died long before it washed up on the Irish coast.
At an impressive 12 meters long, this same sperm whale had been spotted alive on 2 occasions the previous week off the Connemara coast.
For the time being, the reasons for his death remain unexplained. Simple natural death or death caused by other environmental factors… Researchers are already working to shed light on the origins of the sperm whale’s death.
Nevertheless, the presence of the mammal’s body aroused keen interest among the local population. Worried and concerned, many Irish people naturally offered to help the team evacuating the sperm whale from the shore…
