Located on Great Victoria Steet, the Crown Liquor Saloon is the perfect place to sip a few pints in a warm, cosy atmosphere. The decor here is 100% traditional, dating back to 1885. The program features stained glass, tiles and woodwork (made by Italian craftsmen), a counter designed in an exceptional Victorian style, vintage chairs and benches, and a hushed ambience.
As soon as you enter, admire a sumptuous crown mosaic on the floor. Then stop off at the bar, to admire its red granite top and exquisite stucco decorations. The Pub has 10 cabins, built to accommodate VIP customers, or simply to offer people a more intimate setting.
Wherever you are in the pub, you’ll immediately enjoy taking a seat, ordering at the counter, and admiring the Crown’s intricate Victorian style.
For the record, the place became famous right from the start, thanks to its architecture and the quality of its spirits. Often dubbed the “Victorian gin palace”, the Crown was a landmark for Irish beer and gin connoisseurs. A place that was already very chic for its time, but which has retained its popular dimension over the years.
Today, the Pub is owned by the National Trust, which has invested almost £900,000 in its complete restoration.
A busy place, it welcomes many customers every day to enjoy the decor and a pint.
The service is pretty cool, fast and pleasant. Order at the counter, pay cash, and enjoy traditional music concerts depending on the evening. A Belfast institution that we highly recommend!
