Aer Lingus has just announced the launch of a brand-new route from March 26, 2023, linking London (Heathrow) with Knock (Ireland West Airport). The new route will replace the Aer Lingus flight from London Gatwick to Knock, which will cease operations on March 25.

Aer Lingus diversifies its routes to Ireland

The perfect flight from London to explore the West of Ireland

Tourism will be back on track in 2023! After more than a year spent trying to recover from the pandemic, Aer Lingus is expanding its catalog with new flights to Ireland.

And Knock is a logical choice this year. Indeed, the blockbuster film “The Banshees of Inisherin”, starring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell, seems to be having a positive effect on tourism in Ireland. In the midst of a huge buzz and nominated for nine Oscars, the film has given Ireland a new aura, which seems to be literally boosting travelers’ interest in the West of Ireland!

The film was shot on Inishmore and Achill Island, two Irish islands on the west coast of Ireland. On the program: sublime green landscapes of great majesty, but also of impressive ruggedness.

Postcard-worthy scenery that seems to win over a large number of foreign travellers, who are determined to set foot on the green Erin!

Since then, bookings for flights to Knock have been pouring in. And Aer Lingus, like Irish Tourism, seems to have sniffed out the potential!

Films and TV shows are a huge driver of travel – inspiring up to 35% of visitors in their choice of destination, said Tourism Ireland.

A great boost for local Irish tourism, which is already on the rebound!
