Boyzone

Boyzone is an Irish boy band, still very popular today. Founded in 1993, the band was originally made up of 5 handsome Irishmen, tasked with seducing young Irish teenagers… From 93 to the present day, the boy band has managed to stay afloat, and is still multiplying tours and album releases…

Boyzone’s career

A Band Cut Out for Romantic Pop

It all began in 1993, when manager Louis Walsh decided to launch a band in the vein of the boy bands of the day. The aim is simple: to make sentimental pop aimed at a teenage audience. To do this, he recruited 5 Irishmen:

  • Ronan Keating (voice)
  • Stephen Gately (voice)
  • Keith Duffy
  • Shane Lynch
  • and Mikey Graham.

The band released 4 albums between 1995 and 1999. All are successful in Ireland and Europe.

Break time…

In 2000, Boyzone was in decline: boy bands were no longer fashionable, and had a poor reputation in the eyes of the public… Faced with this situation, the group decided to take a break, so that everyone could now pursue personal projects. Ronan Keating, for example, embarked on a solo career, while Stephen Gately tried his hand at a solo album and a few musicals.

Seven years later, the band decided to reform, and announced a tour and album for 2009/2010. Sadly for the band, Stephen Gately died on October 10, 2009 while vacationing with his partner in Majorca. Despite this event, the band are planning to continue their career, promoting their 2010 album and continuing their tour…
