Have you heard of Celtic Thuner? This Irish band, famous throughout Ireland and internationally, is one of those that celebrate Ireland’s traditional musical heritage. Since their formation in 2007, Celtic Thunder have never ceased to revisit the great tunes of Irish Celtic music. The program features men with inspiring voices, who revisit Irish classics with great stage and theatrical mastery!
The band was formed in 2007 as a collaboration between Irish producer Sharon Browne and renowned composer and musical director Phil Coulter. The idea was to create a band that could showcase the diversity of Irish and Celtic music, combining traditional and contemporary elements in spectacular stage performances.
The idea was to bring together a group of talented male artists from different age groups, each bringing his own unique interpretation of Irish music.
They wanted to create a show that would not be limited to music alone, but would also incorporate theatrical elements to tell stories in the style of a musical.
The selection process was rigorous, with auditions across Ireland to find singers who not only possessed exceptional vocal talent, but could also embody the spirit of the project. The selected artists had to be able to cover Irish music classics while exploring new arrangements and compositions.
Celtic Thunder’s first show took place in August 2007 at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland. The show quickly led to the production of their first album and their first North American tour, where they were warmly received. Success was almost immediate, with broadcasts on PBS television in the United States helping to expand their audience.
Celtic Thunder’s unique blend of individual performances and group numbers, accompanied by the Celtic Thunder Band, captivated international audiences.
Since then, Celtic Thunder has continued to grow and evolve, introducing new members over the years while remaining true to the original vision of its founders.
Over the years, Celtic Thunder has toured extensively, performing in prestigious venues around the world.
Their ability to blend traditional Irish music with contemporary influences has enabled them to reach a diverse audience.
It’s often said that Celtic Thunder is the male counterpart to Celtic Woman, another Irish band made up mainly of female artists, who also offer reinterpretations of the Irish musical repertoire.
Although their stage performances are somewhat different, both groups are committed to preserving traditional Irish heritage.
Celtic Thuner’s shows are a vibrant tribute to the history and culture of the Emerald Isle. Don’t hesitate to book your place: their shows are well worth it!
