Michael Gambon was born in Dublin, Ireland, on October 19, 1940.

Having spent his early years in Ireland, his family moved to London after the Second World War. It was here that Gambon developed an interest in acting that would define his career…

He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and began his career on the stage, joining the prestigious Royal National Theatre under Laurence Olivier, who was a major influence in his professional life. Gambon quickly established himself as an accomplished stage actor, gaining a reputation for his stage presence and ability to interpret complex characters.

In the 1970s, he broadened his repertoire by appearing on television and in films. However, it was in the 1980s that his small-screen career took off, with the role of detective Philip Marlow in the series “The Singing Detective”. This role proved her ability to bring powerful theatrical performances to the screen, winning the admiration of audiences and critics alike.

On the silver screen, Gambon has appeared in a variety of films, taking on secondary and lead roles with equal talent. He is perhaps best known to international audiences for his role as Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” film franchise, having taken over the role following the death of actor Richard Harris. His portrayal of the wise principal of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry left an indelible mark on the series and brought a new dimension to the character.

In fact, he plays in a legendary scene with Daniel Radcliffe, filmed on the famous Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.
