Pauline Scanlon is a singer specializing in traditional Irish music. Although still little known in the rest of the world, she is now considered a rising star on the Irish trad scene. We love his gentle voice and typically Irish musical intonations. A real breath of Eire for music lovers!
Born in Dingle, County Kerry, Pauline Scanlon soon developed a passion for singing. It was at the age of 15 that she decided to launch her professional career. Despite her young age, the young girl showed herself to be professional and talented, earning her the right to sing a few years later alongside some of the true monsters of the traditional Irish scene, such as Sharon Shannon.
Scanlon then toured extensively around the world, and appeared on TV, notably on RTE (an Irish channel) where she was featured on “The Late Late Show”.
In 2004, she released her first solo album, “Colour Red Sun”, for which she was awarded a “Label Daisy”, a blend of traditional Irish sounds and more modern influences.
In January 2006, she completed a new project with Donough Hennessy (formerly the guitar player for Irish band Lunasa ), as well as Darrell Scott , Kenny Malone, Stuart Duncan and other musicians. The album “Chut” was released in 2006 to positive critical acclaim.
In early 2009, she decided to join forces with Eilis Kennedy to form a band, initially known as “Dingle White Females” and later renamed “Lumiere”.
Lumiere then released its eponymous debut album on September 11, 2009 on the Sony France label. It was followed by a second album in March 2013, called “My Dearest Dear”.
