It’s been a busy summer for Dublin Airport. After months of chaos and staff shortages, which had led to long queues, missed flights and lost luggage, the airline has now regained control of the situation. With the waiting time for security now quite reasonable, the airport has decided not to call in the army.
As a reminder, the latter had made itself available to the airport for a period of 6 weeks, in order to assist the airport with its security checks. This period is due to end on August 15, and the DAA, the airport operator, has not requested an extension as the situation at Dublin airport seems to have improved.
You’ll be able to get away scot-free! After several tumultuous months, Dublin Airport has finally been able to turn things around, and is now operating efficiently, without excessive waiting or chaotic queues.
As the figures show:
According to The Journal , Graeme McQueen of the DAA said:
In the last week of July, we saw 99% of passengers pass through security in less than 30 minutes, and 100% in less than 45 minutes.
A great success, especially during the summer, a particularly busy time for the airport.
Dublin Airport took immediate action to put an end to the spectacular congestion seen in May. As a result, the DAA has recruited almost 150 new security guards, bringing their numbers back up to pre-pandemic levels.
This considerably streamlines the processing time for passengers, from check-in to security screening and boarding.
As a reminder, at the end of May, 1,400 people missed their flights in a single day due to long queues and staff shortages at Dublin airport.
So travelers planning to arrive in August can rest easy: the airport is now recording perfectly normal waiting times. Forget about delays, stress and lost luggage: Dublin airport will welcome you with its pre-pandemic level of competence, and has taken the necessary steps to resolve the situation!
