Dublin Airport: record holiday crowds

It’s almost the weekend, and already Dublin airport is swarming with travelers! Whether you’re arriving or departing, Dublin airport is already overcrowded on this Friday. A perfectly normal situation, given the approach of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

This will be the busiest year in the airport’s 79-year history. Friday December 20 is set to be the busiest day of all,” said Dublin Airport spokeswoman Siobhan O’Donnell. Friday December 20 is set to be the busiest day before Christmas, with over 90,000 passengers expected to arrive and depart through both terminals, while Friday December 27 is set to be the busiest day after Christmas, particularly with passengers heading for ski destinations.

So don’t be surprised if you have to fly in or out of Dublin Airport this weekend: it’s busier than ever, which can sometimes mean a few bumps in the road. Delays, traffic jams at security… We therefore advise you to be patient, and to get there in advance (for those who are leaving).

Don’t hesitate to keep an eye on the status of your flight: in the middle of a busy period, it’s best to be informed of any delays, or worse… cancellations.

But don’t worry, Dublin Airport seems to be well versed in this exercise, and should be doing its utmost to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
